How to read the table

The page reproduces OPM’s published cells instead of applying a reconstructed percentage to an older schedule.

Does your record show WG, WL, WS, or a NAF pay plan? Find the official FWS schedule.

  1. 01

    Start with grade and step

Your personnel record identifies the GS grade and step used for the scheduled rate.

  2. 02

    Choose the official worksite

Locality pay generally follows the official worksite. OPM definitions and agency HR resolve uncertain assignments.

  3. 03

    Check for another schedule

A special rate, law-enforcement schedule, Federal Wage System schedule or retained rate can replace the ordinary table.

  4. 04

    Keep gross and take-home separate

The published rate comes before taxes, retirement, TSP, insurance and other deductions.

2026 GS pay scale questions

What is the 2026 GS pay scale?

The General Schedule is the federal pay system used for many professional, technical, administrative and clerical positions. OPM publishes one base table and 58 locality tables for 2026, each with 15 grades and 10 steps.

Does the base GS table include locality pay?

No. The base table excludes locality pay. Most covered employees use the locality table for their official worksite, while some positions use a special salary rate or another schedule instead.

How do I find my exact 2026 GS salary?

Use your official worksite, grade and step with the GS pay calculator. Your SF-50 and agency HR record are authoritative when a duty station or special-rate entitlement is uncertain.

Are these annual salaries take-home pay?

No. These are scheduled gross annual rates before taxes, retirement deductions, TSP contributions, FEHB and FEGLI premiums, and other payroll deductions.

Does this table include special salary rates?

No. This page shows the ordinary base General Schedule and lists locality percentages. OPM publishes separate position-specific special rates, law-enforcement schedules, Federal Wage System schedules and other pay systems.
