About the role Senior Data Scientist | 9 Month Fixed Contract | Melbourne Based As a Senior Data Scientist within AGL’s Product & Commercial team, you’ll play a critical role in driving profitability and growth through advanced analytics and predictive modelling. You’ll lead the development of best-in-class models, using complex datasets to solve high-impact business problems and uncover opportunities to optimise value. Embedded within cross-functional teams, you’ll partner closely with stakeholders to deliver end-to-end outcomes, while also shaping data science approaches, uplifting capability, and promoting best practice across the business. You’ll remain closely connected to the Data Science Chapter, contributing to knowledge sharing, mentoring others, and aligning on modelling standards—bringing both technical leadership and commercial insight to influence strategic decision-making and business performance. What you’ll be doing: Drive value through data by mining, cleansing and enriching complex datasets, and developing high-impact predictive models Identify and solve business challenges using advanced data science techniques, proactively uncovering opportunities for growth and optimisation Partner with stakeholders to shape analytics use cases, manage expectations, and clearly communicate insights to influence decision-making Bring models to life by collaborating with architects and developers to deploy scalable solutions into production environments Lead and uplift capability through mentoring, coaching, and contributing to a high-performing data science community About you: Previous demonstrated in data development and business intelligence with a background in quantitative discipline/ Analytics toolsets, scripting languages and data platforms (Python essential) Machine learning and predictive modelling methodologies and tools with a demonstrated specialization in at least one data science domain. Experience working in cloud environments, Mircosoft Azure preferred. Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills.
