The Government Project Manager responsible for government projects/programs/initiatives manages medium to large scope, moderately complex projects and programs applying project management methodologies including, but not limited to, schedule development and management, resource management (internal and external), risk management, stakeholder management, financial and procurement management, contractual compliance, and communication management as required in order to deliver projects within scope, on-time, on-budget, and according to client requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Applies EWI standard project management practices for project initiation, planning, estimating, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing out in order to deliver projects within scope, on-time, on-budget, and according to client requirements Compiles, analyzes, and presents project metrics Ensure that project execution (periodic stakeholder reporting, deliverables, invoicing, IP, protection of proprietary data, etc.) is in compliance with customer contracts; in some cases, managing the customer relationship Facilitate planning sessions and project reviews Collaborate with clients, engineers, technicians, managers, and other project stakeholders to achieve project objectives; work with and support engineers, technicians, and engineering managers across multiple disciplines Communicate with key stakeholders, clients, project team, and management team Engage with customers to explore and understand needs for manufacturing and innovation and nurture relationships with high-potential accounts to develop and prioritize customer development opportunities Complete project close-out activities to include documentation of relevant project data in the Project Management Plan (PMP), preparation of documents for archiving, communicating lessons learned to stakeholders, and incorporating lessons learned into processes as appropriate Prepare and review complex progress and technical reports; deliver status and summary presentations to customers as is needed and in a timely manner Provides input during the proposal development process Minimum Requirements KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to manage government projects and in compliance with government contracting requirements Adept at proofreading, editing, and writing technical reports and presentations Proficient knowledge and business application of fundamental project management practices, techniques, and core principles Demonstrated understanding of project accounting practices and paperwork audit trails Understanding of the need for reporting details to align with the accounting systems for traceability and auditing when issuing reports and updates to funding agencies Understands core business operating principles with demonstrated business acumen General understanding of various engineering disciplines and manufacturing processes Exercises initiative and creativity within assigned project work Utilizes judgment in communication styles and behaviors; recognizes impact on other team members Exhibits proficient written and verbal communication with customers both internal and external Analyzes and understands impact of individual contribution to project financial performance Proven adaptability and flexibility as a part of team Ability to maintain excellent customer relationships both internal and external Proven success in a team-oriented environment Strong ability to plan and organize tasks Willingness to travel periodically (10-15%) to customers and conferences EDUCATION: B.S. in Business Administration or Engineering P.M.P. certification is preferred EXPERIENCE: Five (5) or more years’ experience in a project management role managing technical projects (e.g. engineering, software, etc.) Experience managing government programs and projects Experience working in a research and development environment is desirable EXPORT CONTROLS - This position requires access to information and technology that is subject to U.S. export controls.
