OVERVIEW Pacific Impact Zone (PIZ) is seeking a Director of Finance to lead forward-looking financial forecasting, visibility, and decision support in a government contracting environment. This role is designed for an experienced operating finance leader who is comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving conditions, partnering closely with senior leaders, and providing clear, timely insight to support execution and performance. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in helping leadership anticipate financial risks, understand tradeoffs, and make informed decisions through probabilistic, “what-if” scenario-based management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Forward-Looking Forecasting & Financial Insight - Own the company’s rolling EBITDA and cash flow forecasts across government contracts, be accountable for ensuring forecast versus actual financials are credible - Identify key drivers, sensitivities, and risks affecting margin and cash performance - Report actual financials against forecast, explain variances, and implement corrective actions to improve forecasting processes, including partnering with senior leaders to implement necessary corrections within their department’s processes and systems. Decision Support in Ambiguous Environments - Provide timely financial insight to support leadership decisions when information is incomplete or evolving - Surface emerging risks and tradeoffs early, rather than waiting for certainty - Translate complex GovCon financial dynamics into clear, actionable guidance Business Partnership & Accountability - Partner with executive and senior leaders to understand operational and contractual drivers of performance - Challenge assumptions constructively and clarify ownership of financial outcomes - Support leaders in strengthening forecast quality, discipline, and follow-through Systems & Controls (Supportive) - Work effectively with accounting and external partners to ensure financial accuracy and integrity - Apply GAAP knowledge appropriately while keeping focus on operational insight and forward-looking visibility QUALIFICATIONS - 8+ years of experience in operating finance, FP&A, or similar roles - Demonstrated experience in government contracting environments (required)   including familiarity with contract types, revenue recognition, cost structures, indirect rates, and margin dynamics - Working knowledge of GAAP and financial controls sufficient to partner effectively with accounting and auditors - Experience supporting senior leadership in growing or evolving organizations PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES - Comfortable operating with imperfect or incomplete financial information - Oriented toward ownership, follow-through, and accountability - Able to balance judgment, speed, and accuracy - Confident partnering with senior leaders and challenging assumptions when needed - Pragmatic, execution-focused, and calm under pressure Work Environment:  This role can be in-person in Honolulu office or remote tele-work.
